What’s more, till now we’ve seen Salman Khan hogging the limelight as far as film promotions were concerned, so the new poster of the movie came as a pleasant surprise with no Sallu in sight. Shraddha Kapoor bags Aashiqui 2 in Star Hunt - Post.jagran.com

Mumbai: After the massive talent hunt for new faces to star in "Aashqui 2", the sequel to the pioneering historic 1990 musical hit "Aashiqui" which launched the careers of Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal and established Nadeem-Shravan among the most successful music-composing duos of all times, three people have been shortlisted to share the limelight in the new-age "Aashiqui".

While the two guys in the love triangle would be played by Shaad Randhawa and Aditya Roy Kapoor, the girl who has bagged the female lead in "Aashiqui 2" is none other than Shraddha Kapoor.

The pretty petite daughter of veteran villain Shakti Kapoor, Shraddha's career has been suffering a string of false starts and glitches. After an inglorious launch in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Teen Patti", Shradha was supposed to play the lead opoosite Prateik in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production of "My Friend Pinto". The role passed on to Kalki Koechlin and Shraddha ended up doing the Yashraj film "Luv Ka The End", which did nothing for her career.

Now, the Bhatts have taken charge of Shraddha's career. Confirming her presence in "Aashiqui 2", producer Mukesh Bhatt says, "Yes, Shraddha Kapoor is playing the lead with the two boys Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shaad Randhawa. We found her to be very talented. All three actors have extremely challenging dramatic roles."

"It's not a film about only looking good, singing and dancing. These are performance-oriented parts. And we're convinced that 'Aashiqui 2' would do for Shraddha, Aditya and Shaad what the first 'Aashiqui' did for Rahul, Anu and Deepak Tijori."

The buzz is that "Aashiqui 2" is a remake of the Bhatts' 1990 Anil Kapoor-Meenakshi Sheshadri-Govinda love triangle "Awaargi". However, Mukesh Bhatt denies this. " 'Aashiqui 2' is not a remake of any of our films. It's an original script. A very contemporary love story dealing with mature emotions."

Signficantly, the pathbreaking music score from the 1990 musical blockbuster "Aashiqui" will not be repeated in the sequel. Promises Mukesh Bhatt, "We're completely resisting the temptation of carrying over Nadeem-Shravan's chartbusters from 'Aashiqui' into 'Aashiqui 2'. Jeet Ganguly is doing completely original songs in 'Aashiqui 2'. While 'Aashiqui' had 11 songs, 'Aashiqui 2' will have only 7 songs.

"But it would be hard for listeners to decide which of the 7 songs they like the best. We promise you 'Aashiqui 2' will revive the era of melodious film music, just like 'Aashiqui' had done 22 years ago."

Interestingly, after the star hunt for "Aashiqui 2", all the three main roles have gone to star kids. While Shraddha Kapoor is Shakti Kapoor's daughter, Shaad Randhawa who was launched by the Bhatts as a villain in "Woh Lamhe" is yesteryears' legendary actress Mumtaz's nephew. And Aditya Roy Kapoor launched by Vipul Shah in "Action Replay" and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Guzaarish", is UTV's Siddharth Roy Kapoor's kid brother.

Apart from Poonam Pandey’s curves, a few other things about the siren apparently stand exposed now. 

The siren has allegedly been lying about getting an invitation from Team Anna to become their poster girl for the nationwide campaign against corruption. A clarification of this has now come from none other than Kiran Bedi, a key member of the Anna Hazare’s movement for Jan Lokpal Bill. 

Kiran Bedi has reportedly expressed her ignorance of any invitation extended to Poonam Pandey. 

“I have no idea of what she (Poonam Pandey) is talking about,” Bedi is quoted to have said. 

So did Poonam Pandey lie about getting an invite from Team Anna? It is believed that Poonam was asked to share the dais with some members of Team Anna during a recent protest at Jantar Mantar. But the siren didn’t turn up. 

She herself clarified on Twitter that she isn’t interested in being a part of any social campaign. 

“I don't know why people are asking me m i joining ne movement for Social cause, NO i am NOT..” she tweeted earlier this month.

Rowdy Rathore may have got a rousing welcome at the box office but, for producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the gold rush has been tempered with a copyright dispute. He has been forced to dish out a whopping Rs 50 lakh in an out-of-court settlement with Hyderabad based music label Aditya Music, that claims it owns the rights to the hit song from the film, Chin Ta Ta featuring Kareena Kapoor.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali reportedly bought the rights of the original Telugu film ,Vikramarkudu, to be remade in Hindi but did not realise that the rights of the song belonged to the music company. The number was recreated for Rowdy Rathore by music composer duo Sajid-Wajid. Mr Bhansali opted for an out-of-court settlement because he wanted to steer clear of any legal hassles.

The movie stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, and has been directed by Prabhu Deva. It opened to full houses last Friday.

Prabhu Deva Shows Off His Dance Moves - Rowdy Rathore Behind Scenes

Audiences would have been disappointed if they didn’t get to see Prabhu Deva dance in his own directorial venture, Rowdy Rathore. However, the southern dance icon has decided to appear in a song, matching steps with actor Akshay Kumar. A unit member from the film set reveals that the actors shot a dance sequence together after completing the film. He says, “They shot together for the title track. It was partly shot in a suburban studio while the other parts were shot in and around Mumbai.”

When contacted, Prabhu Deva remained refused to say much about the shoot. “Yes we are doing a song sequence together but I cannot share any more details,” he said. “But you will love it.”

Rowdy Rathore marks the comeback of Akshay Kumar, who has recently done a slew of comedy films, as an action hero. Sonakshi Sinha plays the female lead. The trailer of the film on YouTube has had nine lakh hits so far.

Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, Shabina Khan and UTV Motion Pictures, Rowdy Rathore is the official Hindi remake of the Telegu film Vikramarkudu (2006), in which southern star Ravi Teja was paired opposite Anushka Shetty.

Katrina Kaif is not known to lose her poise easily. Even in the most tumultuous times, she is known to remain cool, composed. It may come as no surprise to her followers that the actress, who is now ensconced in Thailand with Salman Khan for Ek Tha Tiger, chooses to sound unperturbed at the rumours of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s unmistakeable camaraderie. 



Ranbir, who has been travelling around the country with his former girlfriend for Jawaani Deewani, has reportedly rekindled a fair bit of their old bond. Their being thrown together for the film was one of the many things that made Sidhartha Mallya uncomfortable. 


According to sources from the unit, Ranbir and Deepika are enjoying their stint together. After shooting in Himachal, they shot extensively in Rajashtan. And now they will travel together to Argentina. All this while, Katrina has been locked up with Kabir Khan’s unit, finishing of the last leg of her film. If she is insecure about Ranbir, Kat is definitely not showing it. 


A friend of the actress told Mirror: “This is typical of Ranbir. He tends to get very attached to his co-stars while shooting. During Rockstar, he was so enamoured of Nargis Fakhri that he went around predicting to close friends that she would sweep all the awards. 


After the film’s release, he lost interest in her. During Bachna Ae Haseeno, he came close to Deepika. But then the inevitable happened.” 


Going by that logic, there should have been even gossip from the sets of Barfi, where Ranbir is shooting with both Ileana and Priyanka. But that does not seem to be the case. 


Katrina’s friends are not reading too much into the Ranbir-Deepika reports. Is it because despite their cultivated denial they are secure in their relationship? As secure as any woman could be in a relationship with Ranbir? “Katrina is in a very happy space now,” insists the friend, adding, “She does not care about the mating and dating game any more.”
